SKATEBOARD CAMPS FOR AUTISTIC YOUTH
Safe, fun, and inclusive skateboard camps designed specifically for Autistic children and youth ages 6-17.
We operate camps out of Vancouver and North Vancouver, British Columbia.
THE GOAL:
The goal of Spectrum is different than that of other camps for kids. Spectrum Skateboard Society’s mission is to give every child the chance to experience the feeling of belonging and the opportunity to feel cool.
WHY SKATEBOARDING:
Too often, Autistic youth are left out of team sports or unable to participate in camps geared toward neurotypical kids.
Skateboarding is an incredible tool that has benefits that reach far beyond just the thrill of ollies and kick flips. Skateboarding is an individualized sport where kids’ uniqueness is encouraged and celebrated.
THE PROGRAM:
Spectrum Skateboard Society offers evidence -informed programs and makes it possible for Autistic kids to gain real skills including:
Social & Communication Skills
Balance & Coordination
And of course improving actual Skateboarding skills and abilities
ABOUT OUR CAMPS
All of our instructors are Level 1 certified skateboard instructors with the International Skateboard Certification Program (ISCP). During our lessons, we not only teach skateboarding skills, but we also teach how to positively communicate with the other skateboard park users, as well as how to skateboard socially with your fellow skate camp friends.
